Personal Information You Provide

When you create an account and use Porch Light, you may provide us with:

• Phone number (required for call functionality)
• Profile picture (optional)
• Friend connections and circle memberships

Automatically Collected Information

When you use Porch Light, we automatically collect:

• Device information (device type, operating system)
• Push notification tokens
• Availability status and timestamps

Location Information

If you enable the Auto Porch Light feature, we access your device's location to determine when you arrive home. This location data is processed locally on your device and is NOT transmitted to or stored on our servers. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Google Calendar Access

If you enable Calendar sync, we access your Google Calendar using read-only permissions solely to check your free/busy status. We do not read, store, or share your calendar event details. No calendar data is stored on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Porch Light service
• Connect you with your friends and enable the knock/call functionality
• Send push notifications when friends are available or knocking
• Display your availability status to your friends
• Respond to your feedback and support requests

Third-Party Services

Porch Light uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) - for user authentication, real-time database storage, and cloud functions. Privacy policy
• Twilio - to facilitate phone calls between users. Privacy policy
• Expo Push Notifications - to deliver notifications. Privacy policy
• Google Calendar API - to check free/busy status for availability detection. Privacy policy

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase's cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

We do NOT store:

• Call recordings or conversation content
• Call history or logs beyond basic connection metadata
• Location data on our servers
• Calendar event details

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only:

• With your friends on the platform (name, availability status, profile picture)
• With service providers who assist in operating our service
• If required by law

Your Rights and Choices
